| Energetic and charismatic, 5th year Menchville head football coach has started putting the pieces in place to bring back the pride in Monarch football. During his first year as Menchville's head football coach, the team went 0-10, but saw a dramatic change in the level of competition in each game. During his second year the Monarchs went 2-8 and lost two of those games by a combined eight points, including a 35-28 loss to the defending Division 5 state champion, Phoebus Phantoms. Prior to accepting the job as head football coach for Menchville High School, Coach Byron spent five seasons as an assistant football coach with Brookville High School in Lynchburg, VA. During his tenure, the Brookville Bees made it to the Division 3 playoffs three out of five years. Coach Byron's football career included four years at Heritage High School (Lynchburg) where he earned Honorable Mention All District at Wide Receiver. He went on to continue his football career at Bridgewater College where he played tight end for one year. In 2000, Coach Byron graduated from Lynchburg College with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. Coach Byron has been married for nine years to Mrs. Tami Byron and has two sons, Gavin and Aidan.
