Hampton star quarterback and Virginia Tech recruit Tyrod Taylor proved why he is one of the top recruits in the nation. He showed no ill effects from a knee injury, throwing three beautiful touchdown passes and running for one in Hampton’s 42-3 victory over Menchville at Todd Stadium in Newport News. Taylor completed 8-13 passes for 168 yards before leaving the game with eleven minutes left in the fourth quarter.
The Monarchs, who celebrated senior day, scored it’s only points on a 31-yard field goal by David Haas after a fumble recovery by linebacker Adam Edbauer. Cornerback James Foxworth also had an interception. The Monarchs will try to win their first Peninsula district game when the meet Gloucester on the road next week in the final regular season game for both teams.
